The English/Haitian Creole Medical dictionary was developed as a tool to assist the health-care providers in meeting the need of Haitian patients that do not speak English. It can be used by physicians, nurses, paramedics, orderlies, social workers, nutritionists, dietitians and patients in the context of a hospital, clinic, medical office, emergency situations, etc. It provides the basic vocabulary and current phrases arranged by medical specialties. It also contains two indexes, one with entries in English and the other in Haitian Creole, along with their respective equivalences, arranged in alphabetical order. We hope that this dictionary will contribute to improving communication between medical professionals and their patients.
